Martin County Healthy Start Luncheon

Martin County Healthy Start held its annual luncheon at Flagler Place to bring community partners together and give thanks to the many supporters of the organization. Elizabeth Hawn received an award for her seven years of outstanding and invaluable leadership and service for the mothers and babies of Martin County.

PALM CITY COUNTRY PICNIC AND FESTIVAL

Nearly 500 people stopped by the home of the rescued horses at the Equine Rescue and Adoption Foundation, who teamed up with the Palm City Farms Trail Association to host an open house and fundraiser for both organizations. Guests enjoyed a barbecue, auctions, a variety of demonstrations in the arena and performances from local entertainment.

Grands Oaks Of Palm City Opening

Stuart/Martin County Chamber of Commerce presented a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the opening of Grand Oaks of Palm City. The facility provides residents with premium services and amenities, including licensed on-site nursing 24 hours a day, chef-made meals, transportation and accompaniment to scheduled medical visits, all amid an elegant setting featuring an outdoor fireplace and lakeside walking path.

United Way Donor Appreciation Luncheon

United Way of Martin County recently honored members of the Keel Club, Tocqueville Society and United Way Foundation Legacy Society with a lunch at Bonefish Grill in Stuart. Guests watched the United Way Day of Caring campaign kickoff video that highlighted the massive volunteer effort held in September where 50,000 meals were packaged for food-insecure residents in Martin County.

HOUSE OF HOPE improvements showcase

A ribbon cutting and open house highlighted renovations at the agency’s Indiantown branch. An after-hours art sale and auction was held at the Stuart thrift store. The events brought many new guests to the store, raising funds for House of Hope, which helps local people with food, financial assistance, clothing, furniture and case management.

Major League Baseball players were on site, including Jim Kaat, who led a Q&A session. The event was also an opportunity for the Economic Council to reintroduce itself as an organization of business leaders in Martin County with a broad community focus. Leadership Symposium fundraiser

Two hundred and fifty people attended the LEADERship Martin County Alumni and the Stuart/Martin County Chamber of Commerce after-hours social and fundraiser held at Stuart Jet Center. Guests enjoyed drinks and appetizers with a behind-the-scenes look at the Stuart Jet Elite Hangar, which displays helicopters, jets, regatta racing boats and more.

Doreen Marcial Poreba, APR, owner of The PR Czar® Inc., was at Unity of Stuart autographing copies of her new book, Idiot’s Guide: Unlocking Your Creativity, published by Penguin Random House. Supporters listened to her speak about her creative process, how the book came together and how she hopes the book can help readers of all ages be more creative. 

Humane Society’s ‘Mutt March

Hundreds of animal lovers attended the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast’s 14th annual event. Highlights included a 5K run and Dog Jog, a flea market full of vendors, doggie photo booth, lure course, fun-run and the grand finale—a pet costume contest. Held at Memorial Park in Stuart, the event raised nearly $40,000, which will go toward the care of the shelters' animals in Palm City.

All Florida Juried Arts Show

The Arts Council hosted more than 250 attendees in the gallery of the historic Court House Cultural Center. Executive Director Nancy Turrell announced juror Bill Wards’ selections for awards. Held annually, this exhibition is highly competitive with more than 300 entries and artists represented from around the state.

Celebrities fore kids fundraiser

The Moulin Rouge-themed event was held at The Club at Admirals Cove. Cocktails and a silent auction started off the evening followed with dinner, entertainment and a live auction. Funds raised went toward the Patient Assistance Program, which provides financial support for children and their families during a medical crisis.

‘White Shirt Night’ Fundraiser

Supporters and art enthusiasts packed Taste Casual Dining in Hobe Sound for the annual event where 12 local artists don their works of art on T-shirts, aprons, baseball caps and tote bags with scenes of waterways, beaches, and even royal poinciana trees. Proceeds benefited Helping People Succeed.

Alzheimer’s Community Care Luncheon

Alzheimer’s Community Care (ACC) celebrated 20 years of service in Martin and St. Lucie counties with “An Affair to Remember”at Willoughby Golf Club. Mary Barnes, president and CEO of Alzheimer’s Community Care since 1997, shared memories of the founding of ACC as an organization devoted to and focused on the care of Alzheimer’s patients and their caregivers.
