Place of Hope charity expands to Martin County, and named best in youth development

A local charity is making waves among children and families is expanding to Martin County. The Huffington Post named Place of Hope as one of the top 11 charities that changed the world in 2014.

The charity is a faith-based and state-licensed child welfare organization known for the best in youth development by providing for children and teens in foster care in Palm Beach County. It's expanding services into Martin County to serve abused, neglected and abandoned children.

Just in 2014, the charity opened the doors to its Genesis Cottage, which serves as a home to eight young men at the Haven campus in Boca, and renamed its Extended Foster Care cottage in Lake Park to Honda Classic Cottage. Its November Hope Boca Bash received significant financial support from Joseph DiPietro, a Delray Beach philanthropist with a heart for children. And its currently working on a new cottage at its Boca Raton campus for young women who have aged out of foster care.

In October, The Breakers of Palm Beach showed its support for Place of Hope’s mission by giving a generous $30,000 gift, which was matched by the charity’s “Choose Me” Challenge Fund. The combined $60,000 will supplement meals and food for its youth.

With two campuses, one in West Palm and one in Boca Raton, the charity provides emergency shelter, family-style foster care, family outreach and intervention, maternity care and more. Every dollar donated to the charity will be matched by the “Choose Me” Challenge Fund through Dec. 31.
