Empty Bowls Project

This annual project honors the late ceramic artist Lundin Kudo. Nearly 400 people attended the event at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. For a small donation, people chose a locally designed, one-of-a-kind hand-crafted bowl to hold one of the many delicious homemade soups, all of which were donated by local restaurants. There was also a ‘souper bowls’ silent auction. Nearly $10,000 was raised with proceeds going to Mary’s Soup Kitchen and the Treasure Coast Food Bank.

The Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute Foundation ‘Love Your Lagoon’

The eighth annual sold-out event took place at the Quail Valley River Club, raising critical funding to benefit research and outreach on the Indian River Lagoon by the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute at FAU (HBOI). Proceeds from the event will fund the 2019 Indian River Lagoon Graduate Research Fellows program.

‘Spring Forward For Hunger’ Brunch

More than 150 people celebrated Florida’s spring harvest at the Treasure Coast Food Bank’s inaugural cocktail brunch featuring culinary delights created by local chef Jason Stocks. Ground Floor Farm provided the ideal backdrop as guests could step outside and stroll through the rows of in-ground produce and observe the vertical garden of vegetables ready for harvest. The Food Bank provided several extra boxes of food to the Salvation Army and SafeSpace.

VNA of Florida Golf Tournament

The 26th annual golf tournament and auction took place at Willoughby Golf Club and raised more than $80,000. The two-part event included a cocktail reception, a live and silent auction and a call to action in support of the Florence Nightingale Express, a 38-foot mobile medical clinic.

Curt Whiticar’s 105th Birthday Celebration

More than 175 community members and friends came to Indian Riverside Park in Jensen Beach to wish the longtime local Curt Whiticar a happy 105th birthday over hors d’oeuvres, drinks and cake. The celebration was an opportunity for Whiticar to mingle with old friends. After retiring from the sport fishing industry, much of his time has been dedicated to painting. At the age of 96, he also wrote a book about what life was like in Stuart in the early 1900s.

Support from the Circle of Friends ensures that the Elliott Museum can continue to provide remarkable experiences for the community.

The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer kickoff took place at Hutchinson Island Marriott Beach Resort & Marina. The event featured MC Scott Bristow from Scott 93.7 GYL, guest speaker Denise Sanderson, M.D., a trivia game from Tony Solomon, as well the announcement of the 2017 Real Men Wear Pink candidates.
