‘Superhero Smash!’ Children’s Ball
The Children's Museum of the Treasure Coast was transformed into a real-life comic book during its “Superhero Smash!” Children's Ball with kids and adults dressing up for the occasion. Guests enjoyed numerous activities and raised more than $12,000.
United way luncheon
Leadership donors were honored with lunch at Bonefish Grill in Stuart. Campaign vice-chair Bob Brunjes shared exciting news that United Way is off to a great start toward the 2016-2017 campaign goal. The staff at Bonefish Grill volunteered their time to work the event, and management donated the cost of the luncheon back to United Way of Martin County.
United Way Award Reception
During a reception held at Harbour Ridge Country Club, United Way of Martin County Foundation awarded H. William “Bill” Lichtenberger with the 2017 Frances Langford Humanitarian Award. The award recognizes community leaders who demonstrate commitment and compassion for humanity in their lives and deeds.

Martin County Community Foundation hosted a holiday celebration at its new Stuart location. New and existing board members along with guests were welcomed to ring in the season and celebrate the spirit of philanthropy in the community.

Sculpture Unveiling at Geoffrey C. Smith Galleries
The exclusive gathering featured an unveiling of the newest sculpture by wildlife artist Geoffrey C. Smith at his gallery in Stuart. Hundreds of collectors, admirers and community leaders got a first look at “Community Gathering,” a bronze cypress tree serving as a perch for life-sized kingfisher, snowy egret, two ibis and a rosette spoonbill.
BOULEVARD HAIR OPENING
Boulevard Hair boutique hosted 100 clients, friends and family at its grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony in Port St. Lucie West. Guests bid on raffles and were treated to Champagne, music and hors d'oeuvres provided by Cuisine 256. Stuart Magazine sponsored the event.

Hundreds came out to the 40th annual event, with more than 500 boats on display, from small bay boats up to huge 70-foot-plus sport fishermen. The show also featured nearly 170 exhibitors carrying engines, marine electronics and marine accessories from manufacturers worldwide. CELEBRITIES FORE KIDS GOLF CLASSIC
Celebrities Fore Kids held its annual fundraiser at The Fox Club in Palm City, which 64 players and 16 celebrities participated in. More than $135,000 raised from the classic will help children battling cancer, and other life-altering or life-threatening illnesses in the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast.
Women Of Distinction Awards
Soroptimist International of Stuart hosted its 26th annual event at Mariner Sands Country Club. Women were nominated by their peers in the following four categories: Business/Professional, Civic/Professional, Volunteer and Rising Star. The nominees were congratulated by 250 attendees followed by the awards ceremony.
Adams Ranch Cattlemen’s Dance
A crowd of nearly 500 guests put on their jeans and boots for the annual Adams Ranch Cattlemen’s Dance, benefiting the Sunrise Theatre Foundation. Those in attendance enjoyed barbecue and participated in country line-dancing with the Wild Roses Dance Team and music from Nashville recording artist Tom Jackson.
Empty Bowls Project
This annual project honors the late ceramic artist Lundin Kudo. Nearly 400 people attended the event at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. For a small donation, people chose a locally designed, one-of-a-kind hand-crafted bowl to hold one of the many delicious homemade soups, all of which were donated by local restaurants. There was also a ‘souper bowls’ silent auction. Nearly $10,000 was raised with proceeds going to Mary’s Soup Kitchen and the Treasure Coast Food Bank.
Place of Hope’s Sporting Clays Fun Shoot
Nearly 340 people took aim during Place of Hope's seventh annual Sporting Clays Fun Shoot at the South Florida Shooting Club. The fundraiser combined the competition of clay shooting with supporting foster children in the community.
The Ultimate Tailgate Party
Voices for Children hosted its second annual Ultimate Tailgate Party at Treasure Coast Lexus. Guests were greeted by two members of the Miami Dolphins Cheerleading Squad, and the celebration continued with cocktails, appetizers, games and a wine toss.
Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County’s Leadership Dinner
More than 200 guests attended the Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County’s Annual Leadership Dinner held at Harbour Ridge Yacht & Country Club. Archer, conservationist and photographer Alto “Bud” Adams Jr. was presented with the Pete Hegener Leadership Award, given to a dedicated business leader who has made significant contributions to St. Lucie County’s economy and quality of life.
Hope Awards Recognition Breakfast
The annual event featured a breakfast at Monarch Country Club during which community partners, businesses and private individuals were honored by House of Hope for their contributions of effort, expertise, creativity and other resources helpful to the agency’s mission to empower Martin County residents to overcome hunger and hardship.
