House of hope’s Charity Doubles Tournament
Proceeds from the three-day annual Charity Doubles Tournament hosted by Buttonwood Tennis Club benefited House of Hope, supporting the agency’s mission to empower Martin County residents to overcome hunger and hardship. The tournament included the Serve Some Hope VIP Party and Pro-Am competition.

The Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute Foundation held its annual dinner under the stars along the channel on its FAU campus in Fort Pierce. This year, Mark D. Perry, executive director of the Florida Oceanographic Society, was honored for his lifelong dedication to the health of the Indian River Lagoon. Florida Oceanographic Society members and guests kicked off their weekend in style at the Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center on Hutchinson Island in Stuart. Coquina Cove Relaunch Cookout
New owners welcomed local business people, chamber members and realtors from the area. Guests enjoyed organic barbecue and Solid Brass Band. Donations benefited the Oceanographic Society of Florida.
Literacy Award Luncheon
The Library Foundation of Martin County and Knight Kiplinger honored May Smyth as this year's recipient of the Kiplinger Literacy Award during the Literacy Award Luncheon at Harbour Ridge Yacht & Country Club. The luncheon featured Kiplinger as the keynote speaker who gave his perspective on finance and politics.

8TH ANNUAL ‘HOLIDAY HOME TOUR’
More than 600 participants toured six Martin County homes decked out for the holidays during the Woman’s Club of Stuart’s Holiday Home Tour. Afterward, all gathered at the Women's Club of Stuart for treats and a silent auction. Funds raised support college scholarships for worthy local students and other benevolence programs of the club.

Nancy and Cam Collins opened their doors to nearly 30 people who attended the preevent party in honor of the committee, sponsors and band members that all helped make the benefit a success. The event, held at Memorial Park, featured speed-walking relays, live bands and vendors. A preview cocktail party was held at the Courthouse Cultural Center in Stuart, featuring a live auction of exquisitely designed wreaths and trees. Supporters and art enthusiasts packed Taste Casual Dining in Hobe Sound for the annual event where 12 local artists don their works of art on T-shirts, aprons, baseball caps and tote bags with scenes of waterways, beaches, and even royal poinciana trees. Proceeds benefited Helping People Succeed.

More than 250 ladies, and a few gentlemen, joined the Hibiscus Children’s Center for an exciting afternoon affair held at Sailfish Point Country Club. Festivities began with a Champagne cocktail reception while guests bid on auction items, followed by lunch and a fashion show. Port St. Lucie Business Women Fundraiser
Nearly 300 women dressed in bright colors and florals for the “Spring Bling” theme at the 26th Annual Fashion Show and Luncheon, hosted by Port St. Lucie Business Women at the Harbour Ridge Yacht and Country Club in Palm City. The event raised more than $20,000 to support the Community Action Awards and provide scholarships for women attending Indian River State College.

Vero Beach Wine + Film Festival
The Vero Beach Wine + Film Festival, held at the Riverside Theatre, honored distinguished actor and local resident Burt Reynolds with the 2017 Life Worth Living Legend Award. Reynolds joined film critic Jeffrey Lyons for a Q&A ahead of a screening of his latest film, “Dog Years.”
Sea of Hope Luncheon
Four local heroes were honored for their devotion to foster children during the third annual luncheon held at Willoughby Golf Club. Jen Burrage received Volunteer of the Year, while local foster family Richard and Ericah Brinson received Foster Family of the Year. In addition, MaryLynn Magar accepted the Legislator of the Year, and Rani Mathura received Place of Hope’s Hero of Hope award.
SEMINOLE BLUFF CELEBRATION
Guests crowded the offices of Engel & Völkers Stuart as brokers/owners John Gonzalez and Eddie Arguelles and developer John Doyle hosted a celebration for the forthcoming arrival of Seminole Bluff. The riverfront development, coming to downtown Stuart, will offer 20 exclusive homesites as well as luxury amenities and stunning views.

United Way Award Ceremony
United Way of Martin County Foundation recently honored John and Susan Sullivan with the 2016 Frances Langford Humanitarian Award. Developers of the Loblolly community, the Sullivans have served for many years as the Loblolly United Way campaign coordinators and are well known throughout Martin County for their humanitarian efforts in helping those in need. Last year, the Sullivans supported 22 local charities.
