Stuart Welcomes Florida Council On Arts And Culture

The Florida Council on Arts and Culture convened in Stuart, touring cultural landmarks in Martin and Palm Beach counties, including the Court House Cultural Center. The Council reviewed, vetted and approved $61 million of arts and culture grants that will be presented to the Florida legislature for funding.

Women Of Distinction Awards

Soroptimist International of Stuart hosted its 26th annual event at Mariner Sands Country Club. Women were nominated by their peers in the following four categories: Business/Professional, Civic/Professional, Volunteer and Rising Star. The nominees were congratulated by 250 attendees followed by the awards ceremony.

House of Hope Bash

More than 140 guests attended a private fundraiser hosted by Dr. Daniel and Marlena Husted at their waterfront home to raise support for House of Hope's rapidly growing health and nutrition initiatives. The evening featured a variety of Roaring '20s touches including a preserved antique car, premium cigars, gold-dusted cocktails and an ice sculptured vintage coupe.

Alzheimer’s Community Care hello spring Luncheon

Alzheimer's Community Care held its annual “Hello Spring” luncheon at the Harbour Ridge Yacht and Country Club. The event raised more than $40,000, which will go to services for families facing Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia.

More than 200 guests attended the Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County’s Annual Leadership Dinner held at Harbour Ridge Yacht & Country Club. Humane Society’s ‘Mutt March

Hundreds of animal lovers attended the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast’s 14th annual event. Highlights included a 5K run and Dog Jog, a flea market full of vendors, doggie photo booth, lure course, fun-run and the grand finale—a pet costume contest. Held at Memorial Park in Stuart, the event raised nearly $40,000, which will go toward the care of the shelters' animals in Palm City.

Place of Hope’s Sea of Hope PreSeason Kick off

Seventy-five guests gathered for Place of Hope’s third annual Sea of Hope preseason kick-off party, which celebrated hope and opportunity for local children in foster care. One of Place of Hope’s young men spoke about his journey and the help he’s received from the organization.

11TH ANNUAL ‘POINSETTIA POWER!’ LUNCHEON

Nearly 200 attendees convened at the Kane Center to enjoy a day of holiday shopping from local vendors, along with a fabulous fashion show produced by Women’s Power Lunch. A new fundraising record was set to benefit the Council on Aging of Martin County’s Meals on Wheels program, raising nearly $60,000 to feed 8,500 Meals on Wheels to homebound, low-income seniors.

The Everglades Foundation Reception

Longtime Stuart residents Ray and Ellyn Stevenson hosted a reception for The Everglades Foundation’s board of directors and key supporters to call attention to the critical work of Everglades restoration and its impact on Martin County. The Everglades Foundation is a science-based education and advocacy organization dedicated to the restoration and protection of America’s Everglades.

4C’S HOLIDAY COOKIE LUNCH AND COMPETITION

More than 200 attendees sampled cookies and enjoyed a lunch at Mariner Sands Country Club to support Caring Children Clothing Children. Local country club chefs provided dozens of their special holiday cookies for tasting and judging. Five celebrity judges voted on the best tasting cookie, which this year went to Stuart Corinthian Yacht Club. Miles Grant Country Club won The People’s Choice Award.

‘BAREFOOT ON THE BEACH’ benefit

Stuart residents and local advocates kicked off their shoes on the beach for a seaside soirée benefiting the Florida Oceanographic Society. The 65 guests enjoyed live music, hors d’oeuvres and tropical cocktails while dancing and relaxing poolside on the patio of the Courtyard by Marriott on Hutchinson Island.

‘Mornings On Main Street’

Friends of downtown Stuart gathered to celebrate Historic Preservation Month at Mornings on Main Street in the Stuart Heritage Museum. Guests listened to local speakers talk about downtown historic preservation and other tidbits at the bi-monthly breakfast.

BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS’ ‘BIG TASTE OF MARTIN COUNTY’

Held at The Stuart Jet Center, the “Big Taste of Martin County” fundraising event for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Palm Beach and Martin counties welcomed nearly 700 supporters and raised more than $50,000. The premier food and wine festival featured wall-to-wall food and beverage samples.
