Six local mom-and-pop restaurants put their must-have dishes to the test for Best Bite in Town, Guy Fieri’s popular new Food Network show. The episode, which aired in May, saw Stella Koufalis, chef/owner of Port St. Lucie’s Think Greek, take home the top prize—a trophy, $5,000, and another $5,000 for her charity of choice, Big Brothers Big Sisters.
The dish that won the judges over was Koufalis’ gyropitakia, a Greek wonton with crumbled beef and lamb gyro meat, goat cheese, cream cheese, chives, and dill stuffed inside an egg roll wrapper and fried, with homemade tzatziki sauce for dipping (“a ballroom with flavors dancing inside,” described one judge). Think Greek began as a food truck in 2014 before opening as a dine-in restaurant on Port St. Lucie Boulevard in 2018. Says manager Rosanne Leo: “Our gyro-pitakia has always been a top seller, but after the show, we’ve been making it around the clock!”
