A.E. Backus Museum & Gallery Issues Call to Artists

The A.E. Backus Museum & Gallery in Fort Pierce will host a Call to Artists for submissions for the annual juried art exhibition, “Best of the Best.” The museum will accept artist entries by appointment-only Wednesdays through Sundays until 3 p.m., from September 4-27.

Artists may submit works into the following categories: Oil and Acrylic paintings, Watercolor, Varied Techniques, and Three-Dimensional. Accepted works will vie for cash prizes and placement honors in each category, as well as an overall “Best of Show” award. At the end of the exhibition, votes will be counted for a “People’s Choice” award. Accepted artists and award winners will be announced online October 4.

Artists must sign up online for an appointment to submit artwork in advance. Each 15-minute appointment accommodates one artist entering up to three works. Artists can access the online appointment schedule with entry information by visiting “Call to Artists” at backusmuseum.org/juried-shows.

“Best of the Best” annual juried exhibition will open the gallery’s new season, and will debut with the opening reception October 5. The exhibition will be on view through November 15.

Entry is open to amateur and professional artists, and fees are $30 per submitted work. Guidelines and application forms are available at backusmuseum.org. Copies can also be picked up beginning September 4 at the museum (500 North Indian River Drive).
