Dreamer’s Swing Band will perform in the St. Lucie Cultural Alliance’s Cabaret Series May 12.

The St. Lucie Cultural Alliance will present the next installation of its Cabaret Series, The Great American Songbook, on May 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the 500 Orange Event Center. The Dreamer’s Swing Band, a 17-piece ensemble, will transport audience members to the big band swing era when The Great American Songbook ruled the airwaves. The band will perform favorite standards made popular by Frank Sinatra, Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Count Bassie, and many others. Guests will dance to classics from the 1940s and 50s, to later hits songs like “In the Mood,” “Georgia On My Mind,” “Where or When,” and more.

“We are so lucky to be working with Dreamer’s Swing Band to bring this big band sound to our one-of-a-kind Cabaret Series experience at 500 Orange,” says Jake Sanders, the Alliance’s community engagement manager.

“The Dreamers are looking forward to expanding our audience and sincerely appreciate this opportunity presented by the Cultural Alliance,” said band leader Carlysle Weber.

Guests may choose between VIP preferred seating at four-top tables or general admission seats at eight-top tables. Guests will also enjoy a full liquor bar by Bonner Mobile Bar, with themed drinks like the “Sintatra,” and small plates by True Roots Catering, a company from St. Lucie County’s Sunshine Kitchen commercial kitchen and culinary incubator.

The series kicked off in January with “Marvelous: the Music of Marvin Gaye.” Subsequent performances included “Chocolate and Kool Whip: Creme De La Creme,” a celebration of the iconic musical duos of yesteryear, “Legends of Pop: Starring Apollo Vega & The Vega Tribe,” a musical celebration of the pop icons from the 1970s to today. The next show in the series, “This Will Be: The Music of Natalie Cole” featuring Muffy Charles, premieres June 9.

Tickets can be purchased online, by calling (772) 462-2783, or by visiting the Alliance Gallery on the third floor of 111 Orange Avenue in downtown Fort Pierce. Advance tickets are $25, with a $35 VIP option that includes reserved, preferred seating. Tickets at the door are $30 and $40, respectively.
