The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast will host the creative Poorly Drawn Pets fundraising drive throughout October, inviting locals to donate to the shelter and receive one-of-a-kind pet portraits.

By donating $25 per pet or $35 per pet-and-human duo from October 1-31, one of the shelter’s creative volunteers or staff will compose a special work of art in return. While the volunteers and staff aren’t professional artists, the works will be created with care and gratitude.

For those who don’t have a pet but wish to participate, the humane society invites them to nominate one of the shelter pets for a customized portrait, then share it with their friends and family in hopes of getting that pet adopted.

To apply:

  • Donate here. There is no limit to how many pets donors would like to be drawn; the only stipulation is that it’s one pet or pet/human duo per drawing (no group images).
  • Once the donation has been received, the pet’s photo will be sent to a member of the team.
  • The team will compose each masterpiece and email the donor a digital copy within two weeks of completion. The pets will also be posted on Facebook and the drawing will be available for pick up (or delivery) at the Palm City shelter the second week of November.
