The St. Lucie Cultural Alliance will kick off its new Musical Series on January 13, at the 500 Orange Event Center with “Marvelous: The Music of Marvin Gaye” featuring the Soul-Tyme Band. The cabaret club-style series will take over the newly renovated event center, complete with a full liquor cash bar, small plates from Bonner Mobile Bar, and rotating exhibitions by Cultural Alliance Art Guild Members add to this exquisite experience.
The Soul-Tyme Band, made up of nationally acclaimed local musicians from Southern Soul Society will take viewers on a musical journey through the life of Marvin Gaye. Band members have shared the stage and worked with legends, including Celine Dion, Bo Diddley, Archie Bell, Clarence Carter, NSYNC, Chaka Khan, Hall & Oates, Michael Bolton, Patti Labelle, Earth Wind & Fire, and Cy Coleman.
Southern Soul Society is a Cultural Alliance Member and a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and proliferation of Soul music. Lead vocalist and band founder Will Vaughn is excited to spotlight one of the most gifted and groundbreaking singer-songwriters of the soul era, and sing celebrated hits like “Let’s Get It On,” “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” “Sexual Healing,” “Heard It Through The Grapevine,” “What’s Going On,” and more that defined Gaye’s sound.
“There’s nothing like live soul music,” says Vaughn. “Music that doesn’t just make you tap your toes or hum along but makes you need to get up and dance.”
Vaughn has worked with renowned blues and soul legends like Bo Diddley, Bobby Blue Bland, and Archie Bell, and remains one of the Treasure Coast’s most versatile soul singers. The Soul-Tyme Band consists of Les Paultre on guitar, Gary Palmer on saxophone, Gary Haase on bass, John Degory on organ, Curtis Wright on drums, and Angie J as a vocalist. Each is an accomplished musical performer in their own right.
“St. Lucie County is the Cultural Gem of the Treasure Coast,” said Alyona Ushe, executive director of St. Lucie Cultural Alliance. “This musical series is another way for us to spotlight crazy-talented cultural innovators in our own backyard.”

Standard tickets are $20, with a $30 VIP option including one drink and preferred seating. Guests can also purchase series packages, with a 4 series package available for $70 and a VIP option available for $100.
