The Bookshelf: Grab A Copy Of 'After Alice' Once It Hits Shelves Oct. 27
Amanda Brack is the community business development manager at Barnes & Noble in Jensen Beach and has worked at the store for more than 15 years. She grew up on the Treasure Coast and resides in Port St. Lucie with her husband and daughter.
October may be my favorite month of the year. I love the first cool breezes of autumn, the sound of football on the television and pumpkin spice everything. October is my breathing room between back-to-school chaos and the hectic holidays.
What to read this month:
After Alice by Gregory Maguire will hit shelves on Oct. 27. The bestselling author of Wicked brings us a new magical twist on Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland—a personal favorite of mine from childhood. This new expedition into Wonderland promises a bit of history, a touch of adventure and a dazzling amount of imagination.
Where to take the kids:
Barnes & Noble hosts storytime every Saturday at 11 a.m., and on Oct. 24, Clifford the Big Red Dog will be visiting. Costume character visits are fun for kids young and old, and include storytime, activities, pictures with Clifford, and hopefully a good nap on the ride home!
This month, I hope you’ll join me in curling up with After Alice, sipping a pumpkin spice latte from the Barnes & Noble Café and having fun with the kids when you attend one (or all) of our Saturday storytimes!
