The Illustrated ‘Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone’ Should Definitely Be On Your Must-Read List For December

Amanda Brack is the community business development manager at Barnes & Noble in Jensen Beach and has worked at the store for more than 15 years. She grew up on the Treasure Coast and resides in Port St. Lucie with her husband and daughter.

Exploring the Bookstore:

December is for cookie exchanges, secret Santa parties, family jigsaw puzzle nights and responding to our northern friends' pictures of snow with snapshots of palm trees and sunshine. Oh, how I love South Florida.

What to read this month:

Pick up the new "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone: Illustrated Edition" by J.K. Rowling ($39.99). Even if you've read this story many times before, this edition feels like a new adventure. Full color illustrations by award-winning artist Jim Kay fill almost every page of this oversized book. It's the perfect gift for new readers, enthusiasts and collectors.

Must-attend event for kids:

Barnes & Noble's annual Polar Express Storytime event is a must for all children. On Dec. 4 at 7 p.m., we invite kids of all ages to wear their favorite holiday pajamas and join us for an evening of hot chocolate, sugar cookies and a reading of this magical holiday classic.

Our store is packed with unique gifts—our educational toys and games, adult board games and collectibles make holiday gift giving a breeze. Our music department now carries vinyl records and turntables (that's right, they're back!), and our café is teeming with enough treats and caffeine-laden beverages to keep you cheerful all season!
