How Our Local Smallcakes Cupcakery And Creamery Got Its Start

Based in: Stuart and Port St. Lucie

How it started: Every day, Smallcakes Cupcakery and Creamery in Stuart and Port St. Lucie bakes and frosts 18 different signature and seasonal flavors. Brothers Rhett and Glenn Yingling brought the franchise bakery and ice cream shop to the Treasure Coast 10 years ago, and with success at the Port St. Lucie location, the duo opened a second store in Stuart last fall. With more than 100 locations throughout the U.S., Smallcakes has been featured on Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars,” followed by a mention on “The View.”

What sets it apart: Smallcakes uses fresh products made from scratch, and it even offers gluten-free options. Beyond the daily in-store purchases, it also caters weddings, company and school events.

Smallcakes in a few words: “It’s a nice, quaint atmosphere for you to bring your family to and enjoy amazingly delicious treats and the old Southern-style hospitality that Stuart is known for,” says co-owner Rhett Yingling.

Yingling’s favorite product: Red velvet ice cream
