Tish Boyle Reviews Emman's Asian Gourmet In Stuart
There’s no shortage of Thai restaurants in Stuart, but one that stands out from the rest is Emman’s Asian Gourmet. Filipino chef-owner Emman Eugenio opened his namesake restaurant three years ago, serving Asian fusion food in a contemporary, casual setting. Though the menu focuses mainly on Thai cuisine, it includes Chinese and Filipino dishes. Every Wednesday, chef Eugenio serves Vietnamese food exclusively.
I frequent Emman’s often and have enjoyed most of the dishes on the menu. I love the Crispy Taro Vegetable Spring Rolls, served super hot with a sweet pineapple chili sauce, as well as the Vegetable Empanadas, tender pastries filled with fresh corn, sweet potatoes and peas, served with crunchy cucumber relish. For salads, I suggest the Green Papaya—a mix of shredded unripe papaya and vegetables, poached shrimp and shredded apple in a sweet-tart lime dressing. The Pear Salad is another favorite and comes with fresh greens, sliced pears, roasted cashews, crumbled bacon and bleu cheese (it’s not authentic, but still delicious).
The Drunken Noodles include your choice of protein with lots of fresh vegetables, and is finished with a garlic chili pepper sauce. Emman’s Pad Thai is a luscious combination of rice noodles, chicken, shrimp, vegetables, eggs and peanuts in a sweet tamarind sauce, and is simply the best I’ve ever had. His Crispy Peking Duck is roasted, deboned and fried, and it’s succulent and flavorful. If you like Thai curry, don’t miss Emman’s Yellow Curry; the fragrant sauce is the perfect balance of salty-sweet.
As if it couldn’t get better, chef Emman also happens to be an excellent pastry chef. I recommend his delicate 20-Layer Crepe Cake or Crème Brûlée, which he cooks sous vide.
