Southern Sequins’ Christina Sabia Talks Fall Fashion Trends, Style Icons And More
Meet Christina Sabia of Southern Sequins.
When did you start designing jewelry and why?
I started designing jewelry a little over two years ago and fell in love with it immediately. Being a creator and building a brand helped me to discover that it was my passion.
How did you come up with the name Southern Sequins?
I thought it had a good ring. I wanted the name to speak for the original boho style, as well as the chic, southern design of the brand, and Southern Sequins was just that.
What can we expect from your fall collection?
You can expect a lot of suede and leather texture in the fall collection, as well as chokers, wrap necklaces, bone pendants, fringe and tassel earrings, and a wide variety of color including olive green, poppy red, black, navy and marsala.
What’s your favorite trend for fall?
My favorite trend for fall is our long knotted wrap necklace— The Claire Necklace ($58). It is so versatile and right on trend for fall 2016.
Who are your style icons?
Olivia Palermo, fashion blogger Chandler MacWilliam of @shotgunsandseashells, and some sort of combination between Carrie Underwood, Reese Witherspoon and Cameron Diaz.
How do you get inspired to create new pieces?
I draw inspiration for new designs by constantly observing my surroundings in this sleepy little beach town I call home, staying up-to-date with fashion magazines, and from other kinds of design, including interior design—another passion of mine.
Where can we find Southern Sequins locally?
You can shop locally at Tootsies Stuart, or online at etsy.com/shop/southernsequins.
Favorite local boutique and eatery?
When in Stuart, I love shopping at Tootsies, and my absolute favorite local meal would have to be at the District Table [& Bar]. Yum!
