The Healthy Dish
Stuart Locals Can Embrace Farm-To-Table Movement By Supporting Ground Floor Farm, Sustainable Restaurants
One of the hot topics in dining is the farm-to-table movement. This concept brings locally sourced foods from area farms to restaurants. Many consumers love this concept and for many healthy reasons. The locally sourced food is seasonal, which ensures freshness and that the food has had adequate time to ripen because it has not been shipped. This is also better for the environment because it requires fewer transport miles.
Many local restaurants in Stuart offer locally sourced food on their menus. It is a great way to support the local farming community, and to encourage more of its growth.
Stuart is very lucky to have the addition of Ground Floor Farm—an urban farm located downtown. It practices organic farming and avoids GMOs, which means a healthier harvest for the community. The farm is also a place for workshops, events and community space. The farm's mission is to help grow a more dynamic town through food, art and fun.
Let's support this farm and encourage our favorite restaurants to buy local organic produce. Also, if you are a farm-to-table dining establishment, check out Ground Floor Farm and its delicious crop!
