Show off your love for fishing and support our troops at this year’s Treasure Coast Bonito Blast Fishing Tournament, benefiting local wounded veterans.

The fifth annual tournament, which takes place Aug. 19, will donate money raised to the Wounded Veterans Relief Fund. WVRF is a non-profit veteran’s organization that assists post 9/11 veterans who are in financial crisis.

The event has teamed up with more than 100 local businesses to create a family-friendly tournament, which includes fishing; $2,500 in prize money; dinners; live music, including country artist Colton James; auction items; and a raffle-style drawing for the grand prize—a customized TCBB golf cart.

Anglers will also have the chance to compete on Real Radio’s Love Doctors, 94.3 and The Wave 92.7 for free entry to the Bonito Blast. Lucky winners will fish with radio hosts Daniel “Dano” Russo and Eric Hunter.

Capt. Billy Black is organizing volunteer boat captains who are able to host a veteran on their boat for the tournament. In last year’s competition, a total of 13 boat captains hosted 40 veteran anglers who had never fished in a tournament before.

Weigh-in for the tournament will be at The Twisted Tuna from noon to 3 p.m. The entry fee is $100 for four anglers ($25 for each additional person). Junior anglers ages 12 and under fish for free.
