This is your child’s chance to fly high into the sky! On May 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., volunteer pilots will be giving children ages 8 to 17 free flights in partnership with the Experimental Aircraft Assocation’s Young Eagles program and the Stuart Jet Center.

The event was created to give children the opportunity to learn about aircrafts and discover if they are passionate about pursing a career in aviation.

Local pilots will show the kids how to perform pre-flight checks, teach them about the controls and engine and then will conduct a 20-minute orientation flight. Participants will receive a free log book to record their flights.

A worldwide organization, EAA’s Young Eagles program has flown nearly 2 million children since 1992. EAA chapters are locally based in Stuart, Fort Pierce, North Palm Beach and Vero Beach.

More than 100 children are expected to participate, and no pre-registration is required. Children must be accompanied by a parent able to sign the permission form. For more information call 772.288.6700.
