Ian's Tropical Grill Is Letting Teachers Eat On The House As They Go Back To School

Teachers in Stuart don't have to feel down about summer vacation coming to an end. Even as they go back to school next week, teachers can enjoy dinner on the house at Ian's Tropical Grill.

The Stuart cafe, which uses locally sourced ingredients to serve up an eclectic menu and craft cocktails, is letting teachers enjoy this special deal through Aug. 31.

Teachers who show their school ID can order a free entree at Ian's—as long as they bring a friend who orders a paid entree as well.

Chef and owner Eric Grutka said he had been wanting to show local teachers they're appreciated for some time now, but he hadn't figured out the right way to do it.

Once Grutka came up with the idea of a Teacher Appreciation Month promotion, he first considered running the special when school let out.

Grutka ultimately decided to time it with back to school to help teachers have a special night out before work begins again.

"Teachers need to get out and have a little enjoyment," he said.
