Local Shop With A Cop Program Ensures Children Will Receive Holiday Presents

The holiday season is a time to give and receive, and local sheriff’s offices in Indian River County and St. Lucie County are doing just that—giving to those who need it most.

School resource officers and deputies from both counties will be accompanying children to buy gifts for the holiday season, as part of the Shop With a Cop program.

Deputies are paired with children from the community whose families are struggling and who may not be able to provide gifts during the holiday season. Each child is provided with a $100 Walmart gift card and then go on a shopping trip with the deputy he or she is paired with.

As a result, the December Dyer Difference Award was awarded to the sheriff’s offices in both counties. To find out more information about the award, visit dyerdifference.org.
