Play With Puppies And Kittens At Work With A Humane Society Of St. Lucie County Snuggle Session
Want to cuddle with a kitten or snuggle with a puppy at your work desk? Now you can.
The Humane Society of St. Lucie County has launched a new program this week, in which the organization will deliver puppies or kittens to your place of work for a stress-relieving "Snuggle Session."
All it requires is a donation of $100 or more to the local nonprofit. The money will help the Humane Society provide medical care and low-cost spay and neutering services to pets.
Humane Society of St. Lucie County hopes to do more than raise money for the animals under its care, however. The goal is also to help them find homes in the area, says David Lynch, Humane Society's director of marketing and community outreach.
"For the past few years, we have brought puppies to local schools and other organizations, and the attention the pets received is absolutely priceless," he said. "Many of the pets we brought were soon adopted by families who just fell in love—it truly was love at first sight."
Lynch came up with the idea after coming across Broward Humane Society's Snuggle Deliveries in his research to launch a new program for St. Lucie County. Who wouldn't want to spend a half-hour or hourlong break at work cuddling with puppies?, he thought.
"This would be a great opportunity for a local business to reduce workplace stress, get involved with a great cause, and improve the morale of their employees," he said.
The best news is that Snuggle Sessions won't be restricted to St. Lucie County. Offices all along the Treasure Coast are welcome to partake.
"We will travel all over the Treasure Coast for this program, anywhere from Indian River to Martin County, and we plan on expanding the area further if this program really takes off," Lynch said.
