Stuart Listed as a "Best Small Town to Visit" in 2015
Stuart has been credited with the number three spot in a top 20 list of best small towns to visit in 2015, according to a report by smithsonianmag.com.
In its fourth annual version of the list, smithsonianmag.com worked with Esir, a geographical information company, to sort the nation’s small towns based on a number of different factors.
Each small town was ranked based upon its number of cultural attractions, historical sites, nature opportunities and food-and-drink destinations.
Important town anniversaries, openings, renovations, recoveries and other 2015 milestones were also taken into consideration.
According to the report, “Stuart is surrounded by opportunities to revel in nature and the arts as well as indulge your inner history buff.”
With Stuart’s beautiful beaches, abundance of lavish shops and restaurants and wealth of biodiverse ecosystems, it comes as no surprise to us that our city made the list as one of 2015’s best small towns to visit.
Other small towns on the list include: Estes Park, Colorado; Nantucket, Massachusetts; Traverse City, Michigan; Cooperstown, New York; Port Townsend, Washington; Calistoga, California; Sevierville, Tennessee; Boonville, Missouri; Saint Simons Island, Georgia; Edenton, North Carolina; Bayfield, Wisconsin; Nashville, Indiana; Put-in-Bay, Ohio; Whitefish, Montana; Thibodaux, Louisiana; Custer, South Dakota; Stowe, Vermont; Homer, Alaska; and Vernal, Utah.
