After A Few Short Days, This Local Couple Knew They Had Found The One
WHAT THEY DO: Kaeli, 30, is an account executive at Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits, and Ben, 37, is a senior account executive at British Car Auctions.
HOW THEY MET: Ben and Kaeli connected on a dating app in Orlando while Ben was visiting from England with friends, and Kaeli was at a work function with a girlfriend. After meeting up, they spent the rest of his trip together before he returned to Europe.
HOW THEY KNEW THEY’D FOUND THE ONE: Kaeli remembers driving to see Ben and his friends at the beach about three days after they met. “While I was waiting for him, I called my grandma and told her I found someone that I could marry, but it would never happen because he lived in England,” she says. “But we both knew after those few short days together that we had to try and make it work somehow. I went to visit him two months later, and that trip sealed the deal.”
ON THE PROPOSAL: The two continued as a long-distance couple, meeting up every three months or so. During one of their trips together, Kaeli and Ben spent a weekend in Tampa. During a walk along the river prior to dinner, Ben stopped Kaeli and popped the question.
ON THE CEREMONY AND RECEPTION SITE: As a Jensen Beach native, Kaeli always knew she wanted to get married at the Mansion at Tuckahoe because of its scenic river views. She felt her out-of-town guests would love the tropical vibe at the location.
ON THE THEME: “The goal was for the space to be romantic,” Kaeli says. To achieve this, they chose neutral-colored florals with accents of green. The bridesmaids wore a mix of pink and Champagne-colored gowns.
ON THE SPECIAL DETAILS: Ben and Kaeli wrote the ceremony themselves but wanted to keep their vows private from guests, so they exchanged them with one another during the first look. They chose the song “Need Your Love So Bad” by Fleetwood Mac for their first dance after spending hours listening to Spotify, waiting for the perfect song to come on. “I stopped what I was doing and looked at Ben and we knew that was the song,” she says.
