After Meeting On New Year's Eve, Sarah Franklin And Shannon Anderson Ring In Their Marriage With Their Own Spectacular New Year's Bash

WHAT THEY DO: Shannon, 31, is the lead realtor of The Shannon Andersen Group at Keller Williams Reality, and Sarah, 31, is the marketing director for The Shannon Andersen Group at Keller Williams Reality.

HOW THEY MET: The two met through mutual friends while ringing in the 2012 New Year. After living in New York, she moved back to Stuart where Shannon was living, and their friendship
eventually developed into a romantic relationship.

ON HOW THEY KNEW THEY HAD FOUND THE ONE: Initially afraid to risk their friendship, the two realized it was inevitable that they were meant for one another. Sarah’s father became ill with cancer, and through his treatment and passing, Shannon was there by her side. “I knew Shannon was the one when he spoke at my father’s funeral. It was the most touching, loving speech I have ever heard,” Sarah says. “I already knew how much Shannon loved me, but that day confirmed it all.”

ON THE PROPOSAL: The two were vacationing in California and stopped for lunch at the Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay, which overlooked the Pacific Ocean. Shannon asked a woman to take a photo for them, and when Sarah turned around, Shannon was on one knee, ring in hand. “It was the most beautiful, picturesque place in the world,” Sarah says. “I was so happy he had someone capture the moment.”

ON THE THEME: Since they met on New Year’s Eve, they planned a black-tie “Glitz & Glam” New Year’s Eve Party complete with centerpieces of tall pilsner vases with white hydrangeas that sat atop lace linens. Silver and gold sequins, and silver-beaded chargers accented the décor. They incorporated a selfie stick station with props and opted for cake pops instead of a traditional cake.

SPECIAL DETAILS: Shannon and Sarah both lost their fathers, and incorporated their mothers into the ceremony with a unity candle lighting. Sarah’s brother walked her down the aisle in her father’s place and added a photo of her and her dad around the bouquet, which then sat on the empty seat next to her mom in remembrance.
