A Georgia Couple Comes Home To Jensen Beach For A Memorable Wedding At The Mansion Of Tuckahoe

Meet Megan (Meg) Louise Jett and Michael Charles Kissane, newlyweds who came home to Jensen Beach to tie the knot. Here's a glimpse at their wedding day.

What they do: Meg, 25, is a teacher at Foundations for the Future in Kennesaw, Georgia, and Michael, 24, is an implementation software consultant for Manhattan Associates in Atlanta.

How they met: Meg and Michael grew up less than three miles away from each other in Jensen Beach. They knew each other in high school but “always ran with different crowds,” Michael says. On St. Patrick’s Day in 2013, they ran into each other at a college bar in Gainesville. Michael remembers telling his friends that night Meg was the woman he was going to marry.

On the proposal: When the couple arrived home after a four-week backpacking trip in Europe, Michael had a three-day window of time before they began moving to Atlanta to start their jobs. When they landed in Florida, Michael asked Meg’s family members for their blessings. With everyone’s approval, he began a 24-hour search for the perfect ring. The night before their move, Meg and Michael’s family and friends held a going away party for them. Michael pulled Meg aside and popped the question. Following her “yes,” everyone at the party gave a Champagne toast. “This was the perfect way to end the happiest night of my life,” Michael says.

On selecting the site: The couple wanted to get married in their hometown. To accommodate their large guest list, Meg and Michael decided to hold the wedding ceremony and reception at the Mansion at Tuckahoe.

A memorable moment: Meg’s father passed away in September 2013, so during the father-daughter dance, three influential men in her life took turns dancing with her. They danced to a song Meg’s mother selected that she knew Meg’s father would have liked (“Only One and Only You” by Steven Curtis Chapman). They also left a chair open for her father during the ceremony.
