How This Jensen Beach Couple Knew They Found The One

WHO THEY ARE: Alexandria, 28, is a targeted case manager at Helping People Succeed in Jensen Beach and is earning a master’s in social work at FAU, and Justin, 42, owns the landscape design and maintenance company RISE Lifescapes.

HOW THEY MET: Justin and Alexandria met at Christ Fellowship in Stuart. They were both table leaders during a four-week introduction class to the church, and during the last class, Justin introduced himself and asked Alexandria if she’d like to attend the service with him.

HOW THEY KNEW THEY’D FOUND THE ONE: Having just gotten out of a long-term relationship, Alexandria was not interested in pursuing a new relationship too soon, so they grew close as friends. However Justin persisted, and Alexandria finally agreed to let him take her on a date to her favorite sushi spot, Kaishin. “I think I always knew he was the one because he always spoke value over me and put God in the center of our relationship even when we were just friends,” she says. Alexandria was in a diving accident nearly eight years ago and shattered her C5. She was told she may never walk again. While she faced several complications following, she began a research program to assist with her recovery. In August 2017, she was able to walk pain-free and without assistance for the first time. “With my accident and disability he reminds me daily how strong I am and how incredibly proud he is of me,” she says. “I think it’s a rare quality to encourage someone like that.”

ON THE PROPOSAL: Justin popped the question during their first date. “I basically laughed at him, [and] he told me that when I was ready to marry him, I could ask him,” Alexandria says. She told him she had a condition: he had to ask for her father’s permission. In 2017, they flew to Washington, D.C., to spend Thanksgiving with Alexandria’s family. “On our way to the airport for our flight home we pulled over to an access point on the Potomac River,” Alexandria remembers.  “Justin and I got out and walked down to the river. He proposed, and I turned around to see my father taking photos. It was very special.”

ON SELECTING THE CEREMONY AND RECEPTION SITE: They chose to get married at Christ Fellowship because it is where they officially met and is “where God joined us in friendship and relationship,” Alexandria says. They opted for a reception at Port Salerno Civic Center because of its laid-back Florida vibe.

ON THE THEME: They chose decor in shades of blue with accents of white orchids.

ON THE SPECIAL DETAILS: At the end of the reception Justin and Alexandria enjoyed one more dance together as the guests lined up outside the reception hall. They danced to “Simple Man” by Shinedown.
