Katherine Carlisle “Carly” Ayres & Jeffrey Peter Frohlich

Wedding date: April 27, 2013

What they do: Jeff, 35, works for the St. Lucie County Property Appraiser and Katherine, 32, is a freelance graphic designer.

How they met: Jeff and Carly met shortly after Carly moved back home after living in Los Angeles for three years. They were out on a Sunday night in downtown Stuart with mutual friends when they were introduced. They became friends first and then they started dating.

On the proposal: After about two years dating, Jeff proposed to Carly. First, he took Carly to a little French restaurant in Palm City and followed it up by suggesting a walk in downtown Stuart. They walked along the boardwalks and dock and she felt like Jeff was acting strange the whole time. They ended the walk at the steps by the water, the very place they first met. He told her that the moment he first saw her, he knew she was the one – it was love at first sight. He shakily got down on one knee, and asked if she would spend her life with him. There was no hesitation in her response as she had also already known since the day they met she would spend her life with him.

On selecting their ceremony and reception sites: Sewall’s Point Park made the perfect ceremony spot because the couple wanted a place outdoors. Their reception was on a Majestic Princess Cruises ship – they loved the significance of the boat ride up the river and being able to have beautiful sunset views on the water. “We really liked how the Majestic Princess took care of many of the reception details, such as the food, setup and entertainment,” Carly says. “The co-owner of Majestic Princess Cruises, Michele Gibson, was also super helpful in the planning and coordinating of our wedding.”

Special details: Carly wanted a colorful wedding so she chose a rainbow theme. It allowed her the freedom to use many colors rather then just two or three – they had different colored ties for the groomsmen, colorful wayfarer sunglasses for the whole wedding party, rainbow flower centerpieces, and each table was a different color for the dinner seating.
