Now + Forever
Kayla Catherine Walker & William Henry Austin III
Wedding Date: March 22, 2014
What they Do: Kayla, 25, is a self-employed nanny and Billy, 25, is a sales consultant at Ed Morse Cadillac of Delray Beach.
How they Met: The couple met at a wedding in 2005 when they were 16. “We had a lot of ups and downs in our relationship. It wasn’t until we spent over a year and a half apart that we realized how special our love story was,” Kayla says.
On the Proposal: The couple went fishing. They were standing next to a bridge, with the Jupiter Lighthouse directly in front of them. Kayla heard people screaming and yelling. She looked over at the bridge, and saw the words, “Will you marry me?” spray painted on big white sheets. At first, Kayla didn’t think it was for her. But then, she turned back around to Billy, and he was down on one knee.
On Selecting their Ceremony Site: Kayla says that she always dreamed of an outside wedding. She says that Tradition Town Hall fit that perfectly, especially since the couple could use the Tradition Gazebo for the ceremony. They decorated based on a rustic-chic theme, incorporating details such as burlap, Mason jars, baby’s breath, hydrangeas, lanterns, twine and candlelight. “I really wanted it to feel cozy and have the light coming from the centerpieces,” Kayla says.
Special Details: The couple’s wedding planner was also one of their close family friends, Gayle Capps. She made their day special by creating many of the decorations and adding her own personal touch, Kayla says. “Everything turned out perfect that day for us. Even the weather was beautiful, even though it had rained all around us. It was sunny and breezy in Tradition that day. God answered our prayers,” she says.
