Now + Forever

Kimberly Ann Waser & Drew Christopher Nash

What they do: Jessie, 25, is a program director for the Boys & Girls Club of Martin County in Indiantown. Austin, 27, is a realtor with Willoughby Realty in Stuart.

How they met: Jessie and Austin had known each other through mutual friends for about four years when they started going to church together. After dating for seven months, they knew they needed each other in their lives.

On the proposal: Austin wanted to ask Jessie’s parents for permission, so once her mom and dad gave him their blessings, Austin gave Jessie a call. They had plans to celebrate a friend’s birthday that night, so Austin told Jessie to meet him at her parents’ house. When she arrived, he was by himself, which Jessie found odd, but she preceded to get ready. Before they left, Austin came up behind her and gave her a bear hug. He asked her if she loved him, and she said, “Of course!” Then, he placed the ring in front of her and asked if she would love him forever. “The rest is history!” Jessie says.

On selecting their ceremony and reception sites: The couple chose St. Christopher’s Church for the ceremony and Mariner Sands Country Club for the reception. The bride says both choices were easy because St. Christopher’s was accommodating and beautiful, and Mariner Sands provided everything they wanted under one roof – food and beverages, cake and décor.

On the theme: Jessie says once they picked their colors, everything fell into place. “We wanted our wedding to be elegant and fun, which I believed we achieved,” Jessie says. To accomplish this, Jessie says one of their biggest concerns was hiring a high-energy DJ. “It was a good decision, because the DJ had the whole party on the dance floor, and he played all of the songs requested by our guests,” Jessie says.

Advice from the bride: “If people ask to help, take them up on it,” Jessie says. “I didn’t have much time to spare and I’m not the most creative, so I took advantage of my creative friends and family. On the day of the wedding, I was the most relaxed, and that made my day perfect.”
