Local High School Sweethearts Marry With A Whimsical Garden Theme
WHAT THEY DO: Savanna, 21, is an aesthetician, nail technician and certified eyelash extensionist, and Jordan, 24, works for South Martin Regional Utility as a utility technician.
HOW THEY MET: Savanna and Jordan met during a high school basketball game. They caught each other’s eyes and exchanged numbers.
HOW THEY KNEW THEY FOUND THE ONE: “The more and more we spent time together is when I started to realize he was the man I wanted to be with for the rest of my life,” Savanna says. Jordan says he knew Savanna was the one from the moment he saw her.
ON THE PROPOSAL: Jordan asked Savanna to marry him during the fall in 2016. After church the couple took their now 3-year-old son to a pumpkin patch. Jordan insisted Savanna’s mother and father come along. “I had a feeling something was going on because he was shaking nervously,” Savanna remembers. After walking around the pumpkin patch a few times, Jordan got down on one knee. “Of course I said ‘yes,’” she says.
ON THE THEME: The couple chose a whimsical, enchanted garden theme for their wedding ceremony at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. They decorated with green and white vines, colorful florals and faux grass. Tables were decorated in burgundy with ivory accents. Fairy lighting covered the whole room inside their reception, which took place at The Pittenger Center.
ON THE SPECIAL DETAILS: Savanna and Jordan wanted to make sure everyone felt welcomed and appreciated, and gifted each guest an orchid in a vase as a favor. They also had a butterfly release for both of their parents to give them away.
