Shannon Grimes, Paul Needham Marry At Sailfish Point Country Club After Meeting At A Dinner Party

WHAT THEY DO: Shannon, 46, is the director of finance for Floridian Ace and Native Hardware, and Paul, 42, is the director of information technology at The Pine School in Hobe Sound.

HOW THEY MET: Leave it to a best friend’s intuition to set up Shannon and Paul at a dinner party. The couple says they are “forever grateful to her.”

ON HOW THEY KNEW THEY HAD FOUND THE ONE: Paul and Shannon both had an immediate attraction to one another, and the chemistry only blossomed from there. “[Paul] is an amazing father and role model to our children. I knew he was one in a million,” Shannon says.

ON THE PROPOSAL: While vacationing with family in Banner Elk, North Carolina, Paul took Shannon to dinner at one of her favorite restaurants, Artisanal, complete with a fire and Champagne. It was there that he popped the question, and they were able to celebrate the engagement immediately after with their kids, which Shannon admits was “perfect.”

ON FINDING THE VENUE: “We absolutely love Sailfish [Point Country Club], and the oceanfront venue was exactly what we had in mind for our wedding. We wanted an amazing venue and a wedding that focused on family, close friends, fun with a South Beach flair, and most of all, something that would celebrate our being together,” Shannon says.

The two planned an all-white reception in the Ocean Room at Sailfish Point. White linens with tall vase centerpieces of water and orchids covered the tables, while silver bling accented the cake and other decor. Purple and blue lighting reminiscent of a South Beach club added to the fun. Family and friends danced the night away in front of floor-to-ceiling windows looking out to the ocean.

SPECIAL DETAILS: Shannon and Paul wanted to make sure their five kids from prior marriages were included in the celebration as they are often referred to as a modern day “Brady Bunch.” The couple incorporated a sand ceremony as a symbol of the blending of families, and poems or speeches were recited from each of the kids at the reception.
