Stuart Newlyweds Tie The Knot In Fairytale Wedding
WHO THEY ARE: Tara, 32, and Ian, 32, are the owners of In Control Landscape and Ic Irrigation.
HOW THEY MET: Ian and Tara’s first interaction took place in a playpen during a holiday party at Tara’s relative’s house. They finally crossed paths again during 11th grade at South Fork High School when they ended up in the same world history class.
HOW THEY KNEW THEY FOUND THE ONE: “I know many people do not believe in love at first sight, but I knew Ian was the one from our very first conversation when we had met again,” Tara says. “The more we dated, the more I fell in love with him for the respect he showed me, his kindness, attention he gave to me, how hard of a worker he was and just how great of a friend he was to me.” They wed on their 15-year anniversary of dating.
ON THE PROPOSAL: After opening presents with their now 13-year-old daughter, Jaden, on Christmas morning in 2016, Tara went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast while Ian disappeared into the other room. “I saw him looking around the Christmas tree for something,” Tara recalls. “I asked him, ‘Honey, what are you looking for? I don’t think we forgot to open any presents.’” He returned to the kitchen with one hand behind his back holding the ring, and to her surprise, got on one knee and proposed.
ON SELECTING THE CEREMONY AND RECEPTION SITES: The two wed at Tara’s parents’ private estate on the Intracoastal in Rocky Point. The ceremony took place in front of a dock with an arch and chandelier, while beautiful foliage of rubber trees, cabbage and coconut palms, green heart vines and wild orchids surrounded guests with a view of the water close by. A reception followed at Willoughby Golf Club’s grand ballroom, which Tara says “is fit for a princess wedding.”
ON THE THEME: Amber Gilbert from ECP Event Group helped the couple bring their wedding vision to life. They chose colors of rose gold and Champagne with accents of crystals and brought in romantic natural candlelight with tall, elegant candelabras and vases. Sarandipity Floral provided soft Champagne, pink and ivory floral arrangements.
ON THE SPECIAL DETAILS: The couple chose a stunning five-tier white, pink and gold crystal cake from Cakes by Michelle. It was inspired by Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics by fusing together shattered pieces with gold.
ON THE FIRST DANCE: Tara and Ian chose Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” featuring Andrea Bocelli. The two danced together for the first half of the song, while the second half was reserved for a special father-daughter dance. Ian danced with Jaden while Tara danced with her father.
