Take Wedding Inspiration From This Local Couple's Winter Wonderland Celebration

WHAT THEY DO: Victoria, 31, is a registered nurse at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, and Jerald, 29, works in sales at General Micro Systems in Sewall’s Point.

HOW THEY MET: The two crossed paths during an NFL playoff game party at a mutual friend’s house. Victoria struck up a conversation with Jerald while he was eating the dip she brought. But it would be another six months before the two would reconnect and hit it off.

HOW THEY KNEW THEY’D FOUND THE ONE: “Believe it or not it was on a day when we both stayed home from work sick,” Victoria says. “We talked all day and had to care for each other when either of us got really bad. I really felt that we hit a new level of connection because we just talked all day and took care of each other.”

ON THE PROPOSAL: During a party for the Florida State University/University of Florida game (that also doubled as Victoria’s birthday party), guests gathered during half-time to sing happy birthday to her. After she blew out the candles and made her wish, she turned around to find Jerald down on one knee.

ON THE CEREMONY AND RECEPTION SITE: Victoria and Jerald both grew up in Jensen Beach, and when they heard about Hutchinson Shores Resort & Spa opening, they decided to check it out. While it was still under construction, the timeline for completion matched up with their wedding date, so they agreed to move forward with planning. “We knew the resort was going to be brand new, have a completely fresh feel and be something different for the area. Our gamble paid off,” Victoria says.

ON THE THEME: The couple chose a scenic Winter Wonderland theme as it’s Victoria’s favorite time of the year. Warm lighting and snow-flocked trees created the backdrop for the ceremony, while the reception colors featured ivory, white, gold and a touch of red for a warm, romantic feel.

ON THE SPECIAL DETAILS: Victoria wrapped her dad’s wedding ring around her bouquet to symbolize his presence on the special day. He passed away in 2009, and while he never met Jerald, Victoria says he would “surely approve.”
