Treasure Coast Couple Marries At Flagler Place With An Elegant Theme
WHAT THEY DO: Lisa, 33, works as a marketing liaison at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital at Martin Health, and Jason, 36, is a district sales manager at DPS Home Health.
HOW THEY MET: The two met while working in the healthcare industry. They ran into each other weekly before Jason asked Lisa out on a date. The two have been together ever since.
HOW THEY KNEW THEY’D FOUND THE ONE: Lisa says she and Jason both knew early on they wanted to spend their lives together. “From the beginning we both had this feeling of being the ‘one.’ We just knew,’” Lisa says. “For the both of us it was like a missing puzzle piece and always felt complete when we were together.”
ON THE PROPOSAL: Jason has two daughters, Carmyn and Harper, from a previous marriage, and all four of them went for a walk to the water. While they were looking around, Carmyn handed Lisa a jewelry box and asked if she could marry her dad. Jason followed by getting down on his knee and asked. “It was the cutest and most beautiful proposal,” Lisa says.
ON CHOOSING THE CEREMONY AND RECEPTION SITE: The couple wanted to have a wedding on the water but initially had trouble finding a venue that captured their vision. Jade Smith at Island Party Rentals, a friend of Jason’s, had them check out Flagler Place, with which they immediately fell in love. “We wanted our out-of-town guests to get a feel for our town that we love so much. Being on the water, under the Roosevelt Bridge, getting married under the beautiful banyan tree, these were all perfect in our vision,” Lisa says. “It’s nice because we walk by there on the weekends with our children, and it’s a place where we can go and say, ‘Hey that’s where mommy and daddy got married.’”
ON THE THEME: Lisa and Jason kept it simple with a white and silver color scheme and blush-color uplighting. Lisa describes it as “very classic and elegant.”
ON THE SPECIAL DETAILS: It was important for the couple to include their children. They have a son, Christopher, together who was the ring bearer, and Jason’s daughters were flower girls. Lisa also kept a photo of her dad on her bouquet in his memory.
