By the time you read this letter, spring will be on its way. This means our beautiful water will be warmer and residents will be spending time outdoors to enjoy the blissful temperatures. For many, this time of year also holds another meaning – baseball season. We are thrilled to have the New York Mets on our cover this month. The feature inside about the Major League team would not have been possible without the perseverance and help from DLF Media and Doug Farrell’s hardworking team. We have attempted to secure this cover, and story, for more than three years. We’re proud to say that it’s finally here. The story gives you insight into some of the Mets’ best players, and their favorite Major League moments. Make sure to catch them in Port St. Lucie when they make their way south for spring training this year.
Now, I can’t talk baseball without mentioning another one of America’s greatest pastimes: golf. We created our list of the top 10 golf courses from North Palm Beach County to Indian River (page 110). With so many great courses, it was difficult to narrow down our list to just 10. But, after making careful selections, we determined our favorite greens with challenging holes and breathtaking views. We know that you’ll agree.
We are working to stay in the big leagues, and a category we’re succeeding in is attractive singles. For our “Best Catches” feature (page 62), we took to the challenge of selecting just six of the most attractive and interesting bachelors and bachelorettes in Martin and Port St. Lucie. A special thanks goes out to Marianne Humburg, our stylist, and Robert Holland, our photographer from Big Fish Studios, for their help on this project.
Speaking of photographers, I have been following the work of our own local, successful photographer, Steven Martine, for years. In this issue, we reveal his second passion (page 58). It’s an impressive feat, and not what you might expect.
This time of year is also a time for love, with Valentine’s Day right around the corner.
