Water-skiers looking for a change of scenery should check out the Hobe Lake Ski Club. The private, members-only club in Hobe Sound offers open, crowd-free waterways perfect for cruising. “It’s waterskiing the way it should be—on a pristine site with great coaching and boat driving and the best equipment available,” says owner Ed Hickey.

The club is located on a private lake and offers world-class, individual lessons from 12-time Belgium national champion Wim DeCree and U.S. national champion Megan Lambert. “The best thing about our site is there are no other boats on the lake,” says Lambert. “Plus, the lake is one of the best settings in the world, with palm trees all around. It’s paradise.”

The lessons range from beginner to advanced, for all ages and abilities. If you’re new to the sport, Hickey says this is a great place to give it a go. “We have almost 100 percent success with getting all of our beginner skiers up on the skis during their first lesson,” he says. “Come here and give it a try.”
