This one’s for the pet lovers. MartinArts is showcasing a collection of original works by local and regional artists, celebrating pets of all types in “Dog Days of Summer (and other pets too!),” on view through October 1. The exhibition made its Court House Cultural Center Gallery debut on August 9, and the public was welcome to toast to the new exhibit at an opening reception on August 12.

The exhibit features work by the following artists: Holly Cannon, Katie Gianni, Eduardo Gomez, Margaret Gray, Skip Hartzell, Heather Ivins, Deborah LaFogg Docherty, Mia Lindberg, Maria G. Miele, Caryl Pomales, Roni Rottner, Jordan Silvia, and Molly Potter Thayer.

In addition to the artworks on display, the exhibition features activities like artist demos; pet adoption events with Humane Society of Treasure Coast on September 22 and The Farm Dog Rescue on September 24; and a family fun day with animal education, hands-on activities, library card sign up, and story time provided by the Martin County Library System, Tykes & Teens, and Treasure Coast Wildlife Center. The international group, Gunhill Road, will provide a short video of their new release “I Know You’re Real”, which focuses on animal rescue and environmental awareness.
