Since opening in 1987, the Marriott Hutchinson Island Beach Resort has made its way into the heart of the Treasure Coast community. Perched on 200 acres between the
Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway, the property—one of the largest coastal resorts in the area—is known for its ideal location and incredible views. So when it came time to reimagine the Marriott property, it wasn’t a transformation that longtime general manager Candice Miller took lightly.
This past summer, the result of that reimagination was unveiled, a project that included updates to 200 guest rooms and suites inside the main resort tower, social spaces, and the addition of some exciting new amenities.
In the guest rooms and suites, the goal was to bring the coastal/tropical vibe of the resort’s environs indoors. Says Miller: “We thoughtfully designed the reimagination around the local natural landscape.” To that end, the rooms have been washed in ocean-inspired palettes and textures, with soothing blues and taupe and turquoise accents. Ground-floor rooms feature sliding doors that open to the poolside patio, providing direct views of the resort’s main pool.
Social spaces like meeting rooms and the lobby area received a similar refresh. The 30,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor meeting space now has a relaxed and elegant beachside ambience, thanks to sand-colored interiors with blue-toned accents. The lobby showcases a playful design of seating areas suspended by ropes, a nod to the nautical scene that awaits the Hutchinson Island visitor. Notes of pineapple and fresh woods invoke a “tropical oasis” beach vibe, says Miller.
At press time, plans were also underway to open two brand-new amenities later in the fall: a coffee shop and a fun, family entertainment space. Miller says The Hutch Café & Market will serve as a meeting point for both locals and guests alike, while Local Lanes Duckpin Bowling, Dining & Drinks will showcase a variation of the traditional game of bowling and more.
