Hospitality runs deep at Palm & Ivy Kitchen and Cocktails in Hobe Sound, the latest Treasure Coast venture from Jason Emmett and Carl Berry, who also operate Kazu Japanese Restaurant in Stuart and American Icon Brewery in Vero Beach. The pair met 20 years ago at Duffy’s Sports Grill, where Emmett served as president and Berry as training director for all locations until the franchise sold in 2019. They originally opened their new restaurant on SE Federal Highway as a steak house (The Grille at Martin’s Landing) but shifted gears and reopened as Palm & Ivy in August 2024.

“We quickly realized it needed to be a more casual option with quality food and spirits in an approachable environment,” says Emmett, a Hobe Sound local. “We put effort into making it something we want in our neighborhood—approachable, fun, something that can cater to people coming in for an app and a drink as well as the Saturday date-night crowd. Palm & Ivy is a come-as-you-are spot, where you can buy up and buy down, dress up or dress down, and always get something delicious with great service.”

With a light and airy vibe, Palm & Ivy is decorated with botanicals and photos of local landmarks throughout the dining room. The owners brought in Jared Young, a fellow Duffy’s alum, as executive chef. “Chef Young spent time in Martha’s Vineyard and leaned on his experience to craft the menu and uniquely source our products at Palm & Ivy,” says Berry.

The Sixty South salmon entrée, a menu highlight, is sourced from Antarctica, which Emmett says “makes it a little more special.” Other favorites include the ahi tuna stack, burrata and fig salad with local red oak lettuce, and the Cheshire pork chop.
Cocktails include a variety of craft options featuring small-batch distilleries, and there are plenty of American Icon brews on tap. They’ve also put a spin on a few cocktail favorites, such as the old-fashioned and the espresso martini, which are both offered “three ways” to create a tailored experience for guests.
Says Berry: “The idea is to keep our menu a living, breathing organism, flowing with the season and always changing.”
